Oregano is a good choice for Italian tomato dishes, lamb, and pizza. In Mexican cuisine, oregano is often used along with cumin, coriander, chili, and garlic. In the kitchen, the aromatic leaves, which can be harvested all year round, are used.

In Europe, oregano also has an old tradition as a medicinal plant for health problems of the digestive system, chronic bronchitis, and skin problems.
Its blossoms are especially rich in sweet nectar. Therefore, oregano is an excellent plant for bees and butterflies.

Oregano grows well in sunny and warm locations. Sowing takes place indoors from mid-March. Outdoor sowing is only possible from mid-May. During sowing, the seeds need to be pressed lightly, but not covered with soil as the plant is a light germinator. The seedlings can be planted outdoors from mid-May. Oregano is also well suited for growing in pots.
